Medical Waste Disposal Service Huntington, WV
Huntington, West Virginia located on the Guyandotte River and Ohio River, was originally founded as the western terminus of the Chesapeake and Ohio Railway in 1871. The city is named after the railroad’s founder, Collis Potter Huntington. The first identifiable settlement was Holderby’s Landing, founded in 1775 in what was then the Colony of Virginia. Keeping the residents of Huntington healthy is the responsibility of Cabell Huntington Hospital, as well as St. Mary’s Medical Center. Both facilities offer superior healthcare services to Huntington’s nearly 50,000 residents. With this treatment, however, comes a significant amount of medical waste that cannot be disposed of in the standard trash stream. The reason for this is because medical waste is often contaminated with blood-borne pathogens, which have the potential of spreading nasty diseases and infections. MedPro Disposal is dedicated to the safe and proper disposal of medical waste, in order to keep the residents and environment of Huntington healthy. You may be asking, what exactly is medical waste? It comes in all shapes and sizes, and is generally anything that comes into contact with a patient’s blood or bodily fluids. Some examples of these are IV bags, gauze pads, soaked bandages, used sharps, and even human tissue. Immediately following the use of these items, they need to be discarded in the proper medical waste container in order to minimize the risk of pathogens spreading. According to the CDC, there were 17 million cases of infections in hospitals in 2011 due to the contamination of sterile environments.MedPro Disposal takes all the guesswork out of figuring out what needs to go in the medical waste container and what can go in the normal trash bucket. As a MedPro customer, your facility will receive a poster that clearly outlines what materials can go in the normal waste bucket, as well as what has to be disposed of in the medical waste container. Segregating your waste has never been easier! We are known nationwide for our medical waste disposal services, but we also offer more! We’re proud to announce that we offer pharmaceutical disposal for the Huntington area, which is a very simple and easy to use program. MedPro will send your facility a 2.5-gallon bucket that is designed to be a waste bin for unused or expired medications. When the bucket is full, you attach the included, pre-paid shipping label and send it off to our local waste facility. Following this, your facility will receive a brand new bucket in the mail to begin filling up again! It’s as simple as that. The best part: it’s a flat, per-bucket fee. No more being charged monthly for a service that might take you 6 months to fully use.Along with our premier disposal services, MedPro also offers a robust, online OSHA compliance portal that removes the hassles of training entire workforces. The online portal is designed so that an administrator can go in and assign tests to individuals or a group, whichever is preferred. The administrator can then check all employees’ progress, send reminders, and even set deadlines for completion. Following the completion of testing, each individual’s certificate of completion is stored in one location on the portal, making it very easy to access and reference, should the need ever arise. Medical costs are rising day after day, so any opportunity to save money in a business is a good thing. Our customers in the Huntington area are consistently seeing savings in the 20-40% range compared to their previous waste haulers. That is money that can be reinvested into the facility, improving overall satisfaction for patients, and employees alike.
