Medical and Biohazardous Waste Disposal Biloxi, MS

In driving through, it wouldn’t be uncommon to notice the Biloxi Lighthouse. When you’re in the city known as “The Playground of the South”, you need to know what you’re getting yourself into. With a population just under 45 million, not only is there plenty to do, there is plenty to see. Many forget, but Biloxi lies right on the Mississippi Sound. This beach front real estate is home to the Keesler Air Force Base and the 81st Training Wing of the US Air Force.

Biloxi had its first settlers in 1699, in what is referred to as Old Biloxi. The name derived from the French word “Bilocci”, sometimes translated in English as Fort Bilocci. Once 1720 reached, the capital of French Louisiana was moved to Biloxi. Previously it had been in Mobile. All due to the fear of hurricanes and high tides, in the 18th century the capital of French Louisiana was moved. In 1723 the once Biloxi capital was uprooted and moved to La Nouvelle-Orleans, most commonly known as New Orleans.

Due to the Treaty of Paris, and Great Britain’s victory in the Seven Years’ War, France had to separate French Louisiana east of the Mississippi. Spain was next in line and took over Louisiana west of the Mississippi, including the capital, New Orleans. This was all due to the signing of the Treaty of Fontainebleau.

Thanks largely in part to the beachfront scenery, Biloxi is destination for many tourists and people wanting to get away. Several casino resort hotels call this place home. Many of which have a 24-hour gambling policy, lots of concert shows, and most importantly, great food. From the IP Casino Resort & Spa, to Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, you start to see that the people of Biloxi like to let loose and enjoy the view.

Many cities residing on beachfront real estate have great seafood and fishing opportunity. However, fisheries biologists refer to the water in Biloxi as “The Fertile Fisheries Crescent”. These plentiful waters stretch along the complete northern coast of the Gulf of Mexico. Although it is unsure as to how Hurricane Katrina affected the waters, you can experience anywhere from spotted seatrout to sharks in these waters.

Would you believe it if we told you that many years ago, medical waste was washing ashore in areas just like the beaches of Biloxi, Mississippi? Well, I wish we were kidding. MedPro Disposal works day in and day out to reach out to people like that of Biloxi to try and extend a helping hand. Our mission is to ensure safe disposal therefore keeping your beaches clean and pristine. Disposal of medical waste can be a bit more challenging than one may believe.

What exactly is medical waste in the first place? We hear this daily. Medical waste is any item that comes in contact with bodily fluids. Furthermore, it is any solid waste that is generated in the diagnosis, treatment, or immunization of a human. Let us dive into an example. Let’s say, bandages. Once these bandages have carried out their use, they must immediately be placed in the red biohazardous container. Doing so eliminates any room for error. Whether it is surgical gloves, gauze, or sharps, that too must be placed in the bin following its use. 99,000 deaths occurred in 2011 according to a study performed by the CDC. 17 million individuals came across improper handling and disposal of medical waste, putting them at risky largely. Many of these 99,000 deaths were preventable. Medical waste is supposed to be very simplistic, if the right people are handling it. Without the education factor, problems arise. The good news is that MedPro offers something to combat this issue head on.

Our OSHA Compliance training is the online portal that will put more money back in your pocket, and get your faculty caught up to speed. This web portal is the one-stop-shop to teaching your facility the do’s and don’ts in regards to medical garbage disposal. At any point along each individuals training module, you can save your progress and eventually pick back up. We get it, we are all busy and doing online training is not always in the forefront of someone’s daily agenda. This feature is huge and we have gotten a lot of great feedback as a result.

MedPro Disposal got its beginning due to the constant complaints of medical professionals. For a required service, many were paying extensive amounts for services they didn’t either benefit from or find reasonable. After all, it is just fancy garbage. On average, our customers see savings from 20-40% on average compared to what they got caught spending for so many years. MedPro solely is concerned with saving your facility money and handling your waste in an ethical manner. Let us handle this service for you, after all, your patients need you most.
