Medical waste, also called bio-medical waste and bio-hazardous waste, is a by-product of hospitals and medical offices which must be given very high attention because of its potential to be hazardous, even deadly. Medical waste includes used bandages, needles, tubing, and a host of other materials that have come into contact with bodily fluids or tissues. Any number of diseases including Ebola can be spread by medical waste, so it is not to be handled by anyone other than trained personnel employed by licensed and insured companies.
In Delaware the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control regulates medical waste through the Division of Waste and Hazardous Substances. This link: Specific Regulations Governing Solid Waste and includes definitions and other pertinent information necessary for the law to operate.
Delaware defines hazardous waste as “….a solid waste, or combination of solid wastes when because of its quantity, concentration, or physical, chemical, or infectious characteristics may cause or significantly contribute to an increase in mortality or an increase in serious irreversible, or incapacitating reversible, illness, or pose a substantial present or potential hazard to human health or to the environment when improperly treated, stored, transported, or disposed of, or otherwise managed.”

Part of the reason for our success is the MedPro Advantage:
Lower Costs – With the medical industry in a state of dynamic change, MedPro listened to customers who resoundingly asked for streamlined operations, simple invoicing, and one-flat-fee pricing. We said ok and we implemented them all. MedPro looked at operations across many regions and restructured collections in the same geographic area for the same days whenever possible. This resulted in saved time, mileage and fuel and we passed these savings on to our customers. Invoicing is easy with MedPro. One invoice with one-flat-fee and no surprises. Our website includes a portal for payments, or payment can be made the old-fashioned way with an envelope and a stamp.
Superior Customer Service – Our customers told us they wanted access to a human contact for fast resolution to issues, and accurate answers to questions. MedPro created the dedicated Consumer Customer Advocate, a person who handles those tasks and more for every customer. This person is introduced to every new customer and remains their point of contact throughout the business relationship.
Online Training and Compliance Resources – Doctors asked us for a seamless, comprehensive portal to complete their required training and certifications for staff members. MedPro created the Online Safety Compliance Portal, a very valuable resource where customers can study HIPPA, HazCom and other required modules quickly and receive certificates. Safety plans for Fire Prevention, Exposure Avoidance, and Emergency Preparedness can be designed and executed through the portal as can MSDS/SDS sheets. Medical practices going through the ICD9 to ICD10 conversion can access a conversion tool for codes.

A call to 888-641-6131 will put you in touch with a friendly and knowledgeable member of our sales team.
