Medical Waste Disposal Hialeah, FL

As of the 2010 census, Hialeah has a population of 224,669 residents, making it the 5th largest city in the state. 74% of the residents are Cuban Americans, making it the highest percentage of any city in the United States, which does a great deal in making them a prominent feature of the city’s culture.

Serving this culturally diverse community is Palmetto General Hospital and Hialeah Hospital. When the residents of Hialeah become ill, they turn to these locations to nurse them back to health. However, with such a large population, the by-products created from treating that many individuals must be dealt with properly, in order to avoid environmental damage. The by-products in question is medical waste. Medical waste cannot go into a standard trash stream because unprotected contact with it can lead to the transmission of disease, and it adversely affects the ecosystem.

Medical waste can be many things, namely IV bags, used sharps, human tissue, gauze pads, and soaked bandages, just to name to a few. When any of these items are used on a patient, they must immediately be disposed of in the proper medical waste container in order to prevent any unintentional spread of pathogens. Blood-borne pathogens have the potential of causing infections and disease, and is one of the main reasons medical waste is so highly regulated on the state and federal level. According to the CDC, the contamination of sterile environments led to 17 million cases of infection in hospitals during 2011. Here at MedPro Disposal, we believe that number is way too high, and we are committed to providing our customers with safe, proper disposal of their medical waste in an attempt to mitigate any health concerns.

Luckily, as a MedPro customer, your facility will receive a poster that can be displayed above the medical waste container that clearly describes what kind of waste can go in the medical waste bin and what waste is safe to throw away in the normal trash stream. We strive in making this process as easy as possible for our customers.

While medical waste disposal is what we are known for, we also offer pharmaceutical disposal as well as OSHA compliance for the city of Hialeah. Our pharmaceutical mail-back program is exactly how it sounds. MedPro will send your facility a 2.5 gallon bucket that you fill with unused or expired medications as the need arises. When the bucket is full, the pre-paid shipping label is attached, and the bucket is sent off to our disposal facility. Once this occurs, your facility will receive a brand new bucket that is ready to be filled up again. Since it can take anywhere from 1 week to 1 year to fill this bucket, depending on the needs of your practice, MedPro is proud to announce that it is only a per-bucket fee. No more being billed monthly for a service you may not even be using at the time.

Ensuring your employees are OSHA compliant is mandatory in Hialeah, along with the rest of the country. Our online OSHA compliance portal is the most robust, cost-efficient method of training entire workforces. The portal is designed for simplicity and allows an administrator access in assigning tests to individual employees, or group training, if desired. Once an employee completes their training, their certificate of complete is stored in one central tab in the portal, making access a breeze. The system also sends out reminders to employees to finish their training, and allows for an administrator to track an entire workforces’ progress. No more hiring an outside consultant to come in and train your employees, as that takes away valuable time that could be better spent serving patients.

It is MedPro Disposal’s goal to save our customers money in any way we can, and our current clients in the Hialeah area save on average, 20-40% over their previous waste hauler. Let MedPro Disposal take the waste out of your office, and put the money back in your pocket!

About Hialeah:

Hialeah’s name came from Muskogee origin, with “Haiyakpo” (prairie) and “hili” (pretty) being combined to form “pretty prairie.” The name fits well, as the city is located on a large prairie between Biscayne Bay and the Everglades.

Once envisioned as a playground for the elite rich, Cubans fleeing Fidel Castro’s 1959 revolution, along with World War II veterans came to the city, and it was transformed into a working-class community. Several waves of Cuban immigrants have created what experts say “the most economically successful immigrant enclave in US history,” because Hialeah is the only American industrial city that is still growing.

While Hialeah may not be well known around the world, it is famous for the fact that Amelia Earhart said her final goodbyes to the United States in Hialeah, before her ill-fated attempt of flying around the world in 1937.
