Medical Waste Disposal Westminster, CO
Situated between Boulder and Denver, Westminster is easily accessible from either metropolitan area and provides endless outdoor activities and recreational opportunities. With a population of 106,114 in 2010, it is the responsibility of the North Suburban Medical Center to keep all of those residents healthy, should they ever become ill. Caring for that many residents creates large amounts of medical waste, which is regulated by state and federal laws, and must be disposed of accordingly.
Colorado is known for its endless recreational opportunities and vast amounts of open land available to its residents. Westminster is no exception, and it is important to keep that environment pristine for future generations to come. MedPro Disposal is a leading player in the medical waste removal game, and we are proud to offer our full line of services to the residents and healthcare facilities of Westminster. We assure that our customers’ medical waste is disposed of in a safe and environmentally friendly manner, preserving the beautiful city of Westminster.
Medical waste includes anything that would typically be used on a patient at a doctor’s office or hospital. This includes, but is not limited to, used sharps, syringes, soaked gauze bandages, soiled gloves, and even human tissue. Most of these items end up with human blood on them, which has the potential of carrying blood-borne pathogens which can cause serious health problems for an unprotected individual. That is why it is the utmost importance to dispose of these materials immediately after use, in order to prevent the spread of pathogens. According to the CDC, the contamination of sterile environments in hospitals led to 17 million cases of infection during 2011.
It is important to never accidentally throw medical waste into the standard waste stream, and being a MedPro Disposal customer helps assure this doesn’t happen. We send all of our customers a large poster to be hung above the medical waste container which contains infographics on what can and cannot be placed into the medical waste bin. Segregating your waste and keeping Westminster’s pristine environment healthy has never been easier!
While it may seem so, medical waste disposal is not the only service MedPro Disposal offers. We also have pharmaceutical disposal along with OSHA compliance training. Our pharmaceutical mail-back program is designed for simplicity and ease-of-use. MedPro Disposal will send your facility a 2.5-gallon bucket that unused and expired medications can be placed into. Once the bucket is full, attach the included pre-paid label and hand it off to your local shipping company. Your office will receive a new bucket to begin filling up again, and you are only charged on a per-bucket basis. Gone are the days of paying for a service monthly when it may take six months to fill a bucket.
Our OSHA compliance portal is the most cost-effective way of training an entire workforce in OSHA compliance. It is an online portal that allows administrator access to assign job-specific tasks to individual employees or even group training. When an employee completes their training, the portal saves all completion certificates in one centralized location, which allows for easy access should your facility ever be audited by OSHA. The real benefit of this service is that it eliminates the need to hire an outside consultant to come in and train your employees, which is very expensive and takes away from time that could be spent seeing patients, etc.
Due to Colorado being a relatively remote location, we have seen practices paying outrageous amounts for their medical waste to be disposed of. MedPro Disposal is here to change that, and our customers typically see a yearly savings of 20-40% over their previous waste haulers. That’s money that can be reinvested into your practice, improving the overall care for all.
About Westminster:
When gold was discovered in the South Platte River Valley in 1858, it brought national attention to what would become Westminster. Many settlers heading west couldn’t pass up the opportunity for land and fortune, and decided to settle in Colorado rather than head further west. The first permanent settler, Pleasant DeSpain, built his home in 1870, and the area became known as DeSpain Junction.
In 1891, construction began on the Westminster Castle, which is now Westminster University. The building still stands at West 83rd Avenue and Federal Boulevard and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
