As I enter my last week of the sales internship at MedPro Disposal, I can confidently say I have learned an abundant amount of knowledge that will help me in real-world business situations. Interning here has allowed me to realize there is so much more to business than I would have imagined.
During my internship, I learned various applications, such as Microsoft Excel, Fonality and Asana. Learning these applications was integral to my success during this internship. They helped me keep track of my tasks and any data I collected.
I have also learned how to problem solve by discovering ways to find prospect data for our sales team to reach out to. Compared to the classroom, the professor usually has the answers you’re looking for. But in the real world, you have to find the answers yourself. Your boss gives you a task and expects you to complete it, so you have to rely on your problem-solving skills, which I feel I strengthened during this internship.
As a sales intern, I was pushed out of my comfort zone to conduct market research and cold call various sales leads. The first few calls were uncomfortable because it was something I hadn’t done before. Over the course of the internship, I made more calls and became accustomed to reaching out to strangers. Through all of this, I have been able to work on my customer service and communication skills, allowing me to verbally connect with the customer.
The staff here at MedPro Disposal have been fantastic since day one of the internship. Everyone was very welcoming and eager to help me succeed as an intern. The environment pushed me to be my best whenever I stepped foot into the workplace. Overall, this internship has pushed me and helped develop me into a better young professional, and I am looking forward to my future career in business.
