Medical Waste Disposal Edmond, OK
Rated #1 on CNBC’s “10 perfect suburbs” list in 2011, Edmond, OK has been selected the most outstanding community in its class 5 years running by the State Chamber of commerce Department. It has a population of 81,405 and is a part of the Oklahoma City metropolitan area.A city this nice needs to be kept nice, and that can only happen with proper waste disposal. Medical waste to be exact! INTEGRIS Health, along with OU Medical Center are both responsible for keeping the residents of Edmond healthy, but who’s responsible for taking care of the waste created by treating patients at these hospitals? That would be MedPro Disposal, the premier leader in medical waste disposal. Medical waste cannot be treated the same as normal waste, as it is often contaminated with blood and can contain blood-borne pathogens, along with other nasty things. If an individual were to come in contact with these things, it could cause serious health issues for that person. Medical waste comes in all shapes and sizes, including sharps needles, soaked gauze pads, and even empty IV bags. All of these and much more are considered medical waste, and cannot go in a standard trash can to be disposed of by the city. These types of items must be disposed of in a designated medical waste container immediately after use to prevent the spread of pathogens. Failure to do so can lead to infections and contamination of sterile environments, which, according to the CDC, resulted in 17 million cases of infection in hospitals during 2011. Along with medical waste, MedPro Disposal also handles pharmaceutical disposal as well as OSHA compliance. Our pharmaceutical disposal comes in the form of a simple, easy to use mail-back program. We send your facility a 2.5 gallon bucket that you fill with unused or expired medications. Once the bucket is full, simply attach the pre-paid shipping label that we provide, and send it off to our disposal facility. Then, you receive a new bucket to begin filling up again. This service is only a one-time fee, whether it takes you one month to fill the bucket, or even six. Complementing our medical waste and pharmaceutical disposal is our OSHA compliance portal. It is an online portal that allows administrators to assign job-specific tests to individual employees in order to make sure your entire workforce is OSHA compliant, should you ever be audited. The portal also allows for an administrator to check employees’ progress, as well as send reminders for individuals to finish their training. Utilizing the online portal saves time and money, as you no longer have to shut down for a day and bring in a physical person to train your employees. At MedPro Disposal, our goal is to save our customers 20-40% over their previous waste hauler. Bundling medical waste disposal, pharmaceutical disposal and OSHA compliance can save your practice even more money! We treat our customers the same way ourselves would like to be treated, and strive to offer superior customer service. With medical costs consistently rising, saving money on these required services can be the difference between going in the red and going in the black for the year. Those savings can then be passed onto patients, improving satisfaction for all involved.
About Edmond:
Edmond, OK was one of the towns that sprang up out of nowhere during the Oklahoma land run on April 22nd, 1889. The town was mapped out by the Seminole Town and Development syndicate, which had deep ties with the railroad. That’s why many streets in Edmond are named after men that worked for the railroad or the town syndicate.
In 1887, the Santa Fe rail line built a water and coaling station for steam engines at the highest point in Oklahoma County, and named the station after Edmond Burdick, a traveling freight agent. The reason for building at the highest point was so that the steam engines, freshly filled with water and coal, could more easily accelerate downhill in either direction. When the town was formed after the land run, early settlers decided they would keep the Edmond name. Currently, the BNSF freight line runs the same course.

Edmond Little-Known Facts
The Santa Fe rail line in Oklahoma Territory, established a water and coaling station for steam engines at this location when the Santa Fe Railroad built into Indian Territory in 1887. The site for the station was chosen because it was the highest point on the line in Oklahoma County; train could more easily accelerate going downhill while leaving the station in either direction. The railroad then named the station for Edmond Burdick, the Santa Fe’s traveling freight agent. When the town was formed after the Oklahoma Land Run of 1889, early settlers decided to adopt the name.
