Medical Waste Disposal Syracuse, NY
The largest US city with the name Syracuse, Syracuse, NY, has a population of 145,170 and is the economic and educational hub of central New York. The city was named after the original Greek city of Syracuse on the eastern coast of Sicily, and in 2010, was rated 4th in the top 10 places to raise a family by Forbes Magazine. The city is a major transportation crossroad, between the Erie Canal, railroads, and its airport, the largest in the region. Keeping the residents of Buffalo healthy is the job of Crouse Hospital and St Joseph’s Hospital Health Center, both providing excellent healthcare to the region. They may be responsible for the care of patients, but who is responsible for the medical waste that they generate? That’s where MedPro Disposal comes in, the nation’s premier medical waste hauler. Medical waste is highly regulated on the state and federal levels due to the presence of toxins and pathogens. MedPro Disposal is devoted to the safe and proper disposal of this waste, in order to keep the residents and environment of Syracuse healthy. Trying to decide what is classified as medical waste can be a hard task, but not as a MedPro customer. Your facility will receive a poster that can be hung above the medical waste container which clearly outlines what can and cannot go in the medical waste container. So, what exactly is medical waste? It can be IV bags, used sharps, gauze pads, soaked bandages, and even human tissue, along with countless other items. Immediately following the use of these items on a patient, it is necessary that they are disposed of immediately in the proper waste container, in order to prevent the contamination of sterile environments, which, according to the CDC, resulted in 17 million cases of infections in hospitals in 2011. Medical waste disposal is not the only service we offer in the Syracuse area! MedPro Disposal is proud to announce we also provide pharmaceutical disposal and OSHA compliance to businesses and facilities in Syracuse. Our pharmaceutical disposal program consists of a mail-back system that reduces the stress and hassle often associated with this process. MedPro will send your facility a 2.5-gallon bucket that is used to be filled with old or unused medications. Once the bucket is filled to capacity, simply attach the included pre-paid shipping label and send the bucket to our disposal facility. Your facility is then provided with a brand new bucket, ready to be filled up again. This low-cost program eliminates pharmaceuticals from entering the water stream and being digested by wildlife, another example of MedPro’s commitment to the environment. Along with our disposal services, MedPro Disposal’s OSHA compliance portal is the most robust and effective method of training your entire workforce to be OSHA compliant. It consists of online videos and quizzes, designed for specific job duties in the workplace. An administrator can assign these tests to individuals or groups if desired, and then monitor their progress throughout the training. Once an employee finishes training, their certification of completion is recorded and stored in a centralized tab in the online portal, making access and viewing extremely easy and pain-free. This online portal eliminates the need to hire an outside consultant to come in and train your staff, which generally entails shutting down for half a day and wasting valuable time and money. With the cost of medical care constantly increasing, healthcare practices are looking everywhere they can to save them and their customer’s money. Our current customers in the greater Syracuse area are typically seeing savings in the 20-40% range compared to their previous vendors. That’s 40% more money that can be reinvested into your business to provide a better experience for all involved.
About Syracuse:
Significant industrial expansion in the area was sparked by World War II, and Syracuse became known as a hub for steel and custom machining. General Motors and Chrysler had operations in the area, and Syracuse was home to companies such as Carrier and General Electric. The 1970s brought hardship to the area as many businesses failed and the unemployment rate rose. Many industrial jobs have left the area, and the city’s top employers are now in the education and service industry.
Many colleges call Syracuse and its surrounding areas their home, including world-renowned Syracuse University, State University, Cornell, and Ithaca College. The city boasts over 170 recreational areas, including the United States’ first public golf course, located in Burnet Park.
