Medical Waste Disposal Santa Fe, NM

Its name is not given accidentally. “The City Different”, otherwise known as Santa Fe, New Mexico, is the capital of the state. Although it is the capital, it is still behind three cities in terms of population. Looking back into history, the area was originally settled by indigenous people who constructed the village-style neighborhoods. Spanish colonists founded the area in 1610. Although you may not think so, Santa Fe is the oldest state capital in the nation. The name comes from the Spanish translation, “holy faith”. Interestingly enough, the city’s name was originally La Villa Real de la Santa Fe de San Francisco de Asis. Pueblo villages were constructed around 1050, and all the way up to 100 years later. These Native Americans built a cluster of homes that are the main plaza of Santa Fe today. The Santa Fe River was a huge driving force in the early settlement, due to the large resource and easy transportation. Up until the 1700s, the river flowed annually. By the 20th century, the river began to dry up and would only flow in seasonal patterns. Reigning just a few years prior, this river was the most endangered in the United States. Santa Fe was claimed as part of West Texas when the Republic of Texas cut ties with Mexico in 1836. In an effort to take over the Santa Fe Trail, a small militia set out from Austin, soon to be captured by the Mexican army. Following this expedition, the United States declared war on Mexico in 1846. The goal of the war was to capture the entire state of New Mexico which was eventually gained through the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo. After the 20th century got underway, and the main railroad line bypassed through Santa Fe, the city lost great population. However, many were still attracted to the rich terrain, landscape, and mild climate. Thanks to local leaders, the city got its name on the map and was being promoted as a popular tourist destination. The “Santa Fe style” was created, which was the unique architecture of the groundbreaking buildings, as well as the traditional styles that were present. Santa Fe had a unique way about it and was far different than any other province in the nation at this time. Just behind the government, tourism is a very large aspect to the economic performance of Santa Fe. Year-round, visitors seek out the city. Outdoor activities are never an issue, due to the mild annual climate. From skiing in the mountains to hiking, being a couch potato is no option here. One of the more fixated destinations in Santa Fe is the historic downtown. When you are on and around the plaza, it is a challenge not feeling the rich history that went into the sculpting of this beautiful city. Mark your calendar for the second week of September. The aspens in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains change into a yellow tint, and the clear skies paint a pristine backdrop behind.MedPro Disposal wants to do its part in keeping Santa Fe healthcare facilities open and safe. Our main concern is to educate the citizens and healthcare professionals about safe-handling their medical waste and proper disposal. Many people reach out to us, asking what exactly medical waste is? Any item that comes in contact with any bodily fluids is the general definition. Diving in a little bit deeper, it is any solidified waste that is generated in the diagnosing, treating, or immunization or a human. Many moons ago, this waste was disposed of with your regular old garbage. Officials were starting to see issues. This type of handling was leading to disease and virus. If something did not change and change fast, outbreaks were to follow. At any doctors’ office, medical clinic, or hospital today, it won’t be impossible to find the red biohazard container. They are in every room of every doctors’ office.

Let’s use an example to highlight a safe-handling scenario. Gauze pads, for example, must be put directly in the red biohazardous container immediately following their use. A near 17 million individuals were infected by improper handling and unsafe disposal, something that very well could’ve been prevented. With this prevention, the 99,000 individuals that passed away could very well still be here. Just like anything, they involve education to prevent situations like that of the 17 million.

Safety is among our main concerns. With safety, handling and compliance go hand-in-hand. We have quite a few services that you may find necessary for your practice.

Our RMW service is our bread and butter. This is the main disposal of many practices. Our OSHA Compliance training is one of our highly suggested services as well. This online portal gives your facility and faculty credibility and will assure you are handling everything in a harmless manner. Each representative has their own sign-in and is allowed as much time as they choose to complete each module.

From Pharmaceutical waste to sharps disposals, MedPro Disposal can assure its customers safe disposal as well as top-notch service. With medical costs constantly on the rise, many healthcare providers are looking for ways to cut costs. MedPro is here to offer top tier service at a fraction of the cost. Customers can see annual savings anywhere from 20-40% on their current spend. Our mission is to handle this one for you, and get you back to your patients.
